Karaoke Code of Conduct
Music Industry Piracy Investigations ( MIPI) is the anti-piracy body for the Australian music industry. MIPI acts on behalf of record companies that are members of the Australian Record Industry Association (ARIA) and music publishers who are members of the Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society (AMCOS).
MIPI recently launched a Karaoke Code of Conduct (Code) which applies to karaoke content providers, including us and our customers. The Code aims to address karaoke piracy in order to enable legitimate operators to flourish.
How does the Code affect you?
Under the Code, as a purchaser of karaoke content, you have the following obligations:
- Apply to MIPI for a valid Registration Number for each karaoke device that you own or operate. This can be done by filling out the Registration Form attached or available at www.mipi.com.au/issues_faqs/codesofconduct.htm; and
- Notify us of your Registration Numbers.
We can only provide music to you for your karaoke devices if you have registered with MIPI.
Should you require any further information, please visit the MIPI website at www.mipi.com.au/issues_faqs/codesofconduct.htm, phone (02) 85691177
or email mipi@mipi.com.au.
